SUMMER...IS 3 MONTHS AWAY!
Summer has to be my favourite season for TWO reasons:
1. All the EUROPEAN HOTTIES come out to play in Cape Town :)
2. It's finally warm enough to GO TO THE BEACH :)
Now the above are not unrelated as when it's summer in Cape Town, one can spend their Saturdays and Sundays lazing around on the beach WHILST eyeing all the good-looking European tourists who have decided to brace our shores with their 'Adonis' looks!
One thing I'll definitely miss about Cape Town whilst I'm away in London is the nice warm summer weather, and having the luxury of walking to the beach from my apartment whenever I feel like doing so.
So I thought I'd compile my TOP 5 FAVOURITE BEACHES IN CAPE TOWN for all those thinking of spending their summer vacation in Cape Town:
1. BLOUBERG/BLOUBERGSTRAND BEACH
Of course right at the top of the list would be my neighbourhood! Blouberg/Bloubergstrand is a suburb of Cape Town situated along the shores of Table Bay. Blouberg/Bloubergstrand is also known as "Blaauwberg", which is Afrikaans for "Blue Mountain"!
Bloubergstrand Beach has a beautiful view of Table Mountain, and is also popular for KITESURFING!
The bay on the west side of Bloubergstrand is known as BIG BAY, and BIG BAY BEACH is also a very popular spot for KITESURFERS!
Here are some Blouberg Beach snaps:
Come to my 'hood 'hood :)
You will find unrivalled picturesque views
When my bestie came to visit me - I would never want to leave this suburb
Why do I love living here you may ask? I can walk to the beach whenever I want!
Sunset at Blouberg Beach
Look at how stunning the water looks at sunset!!
And of course, no Blouberg picture library would be complete without a picture of BIG BAY BEACH
2. CAMPS BAY BEACH
THE BEACH TO SEE AND BE SEEN! If you want to spot a HUNKY EUROPEAN TOURIST or five, Camps Bay Beach is for you! Camps Bay is an AFFLUENT & CHIC suburb in Cape Town, and it is known to attract a large number of foreign tourists every summer! Apart from its postcard perfect WHITE SAND, I especially love the fact that Camps Bay Beach is situated opposite the Camps Bay main tourist hub which includes trendy restaurants, five-star hotels and exciting shops. Enjoy SUNDOWNERS at CAFE CAPRICE whilst admiring the sea views or sunset over the ocean. Or you can choose a luxurious stay at the 5-star THE BAY HOTEL, and wake up to stunning sunrise views over the ocean. Or you can opt for a truly South African shopping experience in THE PROMENADE SHOPPING CENTRE.
Here are some Camps Bay Beach pics:
Camps Bay Beach comes alive during summer! Look how white the sand is!
Checking out the lifeguard (guilty giggle)
Great picnic spot!
Beach volleyball anyone?
Best part about spending the afternoon at Camps Bay beach is being able to watch the sunset over the over the ocean whilst sipping on a Strawberry Daquiri or two :)
3. BOULDERS BEACH
Boulders Beach (or Boulders Bay) is a sheltered beach situated in the CAPE PENINSULA, near Simons Town towards Cape Point. It is made up of inlets between granite boulders and it is a popular tourist destination because of the colony of AFRICAN PENGUINS which settled at the beach in 1982! Yes, you read right, BOULDERS BEACH HAS PENGUINS! I got to see these extraordinary creatures when I went on a little road trip with my bestie to the beach.
Beautiful views at Boulders Beach

Such stunning views! Can you spot the penguin?
Penguin SPOTTED! How cute!
There's even a little restaurant opposite the beach
4. MELKBOSSTRAND BEACH
Melkbosstrand, which is Afrikaans for MILKBUSH BEACH, is a coastal village and beach located along the ATLANTIC SEABOARD! The town, and its white sand beach, is situated on the Atlantic coast with the Blouberg mountain to the east! It is a very laid back and low-key beach and is perfect for a quiet Sunday afternoon spent with family and friends.
Gorgeous views!
It's like living off a postcard!
Enjoying the sun!
Lunch at CAFE ORCA, a restaurant opposite Melkbosstrand beach!
5. STRAND BEACH
Strand, which is the Afrikaans word for "beach", is a SEASIDE RESORT situated on the eastern edge of FALSE BAY and at the foot of the HOTTENTOTS HOLLAND MOUNTAINS! Apart from the beautiful white sandy beach, Strand Beach is a popular SURFING spot (although you'll have to WATCH OUT FOR SHARKS SURF DUDES AND DUDETTES)!
Frolicking on Strand Beach!
There you have it! My top 5 favourite beaches in Cape Town! Have you ever been to any of these beaches? If you have, share your experiences in the comments section below! Are there any other Cape Town beaches that you would recommend which didn't make my Top 5 List? Share on the comments section.
