And so THE DAY FINALLY ARRIVED!
If you have been following my posts you will know by now that I was preparing for my departure to London. I am pursuing my second Masters in Law (LLM) in International Banking and Finance Law at University College of London! I have gone from shaping young minds to being a young mind who needs shaping :) I am so grateful to God for the opportunity. I am truly blessed.
So I departed Cape Town, South Africa on Saturday evening, 12 September and arrived in London, England the next morning on Sunday 13 September. It was quite a lengthy flight, but I love flying British Airways so that made the flight less stressful.
All packed and ready to go-from the rooftops shout it out!
One of the MOST exciting days of my life!
Goodbye South Africa :)
All checked in and waiting for my flight!
I cannot begin to describe the excitement I felt when the plane landed and it finally dawned on me that I was at HEATHROW AIRPORT!! It was an amazing feeling, one I cannot put into words! I was FINALLY HERE, in LONDON, ENGLAND! My dream city, London (next to Cape Town), my dream country, United Kingdom (next to South Africa)! My best friend will tell you that I have spent most of my life saying that I could not imagine myself wanting to live in any other city in South Africa other than Cape Town, AND that if I had to relocate anywhere in the world I could not imagine myself ever wanting to live anywhere else but the United Kingdom. Both these statements were made when I was still a law student living in Durban, KwaZulu Natal and I had never step foot outside my province, let alone country! I remember a classmate asking me whether I had been to Cape Town or the UK before because he couldn't understand how I could fall in love with a place I had never been to, and I told him I had never been but I somehow knew in my heart that those two places were SO me & would fit my personality well. And when I walked the streets of Cape Town for the first time so many years ago I KNEW in my heart that I was HOME! Through all the ups and downs, I do not regret my decision to move to Cape Town. Through all its challenges and frustrations (and boy there were many), never once did I consider leaving the city. It was and still is everything I have ever imagined it to be. And when I walked the streets of London for the first time yesterday, that same feeling came over me. I knew I was where I BELONGED! I had found a city that spoke to ME, who I am & my personality! And I know that this new journey will be filled with ups and downs. There will be times of excitement, joy and happiness, but there will also be times filled with sadness, frustration and challenges. But through it all I know in my heart that I will not have a single regret, just like I felt all those years ago when I first came to Cape Town!
I am looking forward to this amazing journey and I will be sharing my travels with you over the next year.
