MY FASHION DIARY (Part 2) - LONDON FASHION WEEK 2015 (MANUEL FACCHINI SS16)

HELLO BLOGETTES!!

As I mentioned in my previous post my favourite time of the year has arrived once again. It's FASHION WEEK!! And specifically LONDON FASHION WEEK 2015! It is that time of year when top designers unveil their Spring/Summer 2016 collections. I had the BLESSED OPPORTUNITY of being INVITED TO SOME OF THE DESIGNER SHOWS! So over the next few days I will be giving EXCLUSIVE ACCESS to some of the shows at London Fashion Week 2015 in the series titled 'MY FASHION DIARY'.

MANUEL FACCHINI

Manuel Facchini is an Italian designer who worked as Creative Director for the high end Italian label BYBLOS. He has now branched off onto his own, and debuted his first ever line with the Fall/Winter 2016 collection at London Fashion Week in February earlier this year. He now returned to London Fashion Week 2015 to showcase his Spring/Summer 2016 collection which had us AWESTRUCK! Manuel's designs incorporate a unique mix of GOTHIC and SPORT which results in very artistic and fashion forward patterns. The Manuel Facchini line is clearly for the cosmopolitan woman who desires simplicity whilst staying true to her feminine side.

I had the great opportunity of interviewing Manuel Facchini after the presentation of his Spring/Summer 2016 collection and below is the transcript of the interview:

Me: "Congratulations on your collection it was amazing. Judging from your Fall/Winter 2016 line there was a lot of geometrical shapes and symmetrical lines and I see it came through for the Spring/Summer 2016 collection, so what inspired your Spring/Summer line?"

Manuel: "The collection was inspired from two different worlds,  the Rock Gothic and high tech Sport. So for example for this season I wanted to get the influence of the wings, the eagle wings, but trying to interpret them in a really Gothic way. So I tried to remake some new kind of cages, rib cages, made out of wings. So you can see the very geometric wings that go on the fabric on the jacquard which I created by myself. So all the different feelings are coming through of the Gothic and High Tech Sport..."

Me: "It's very futuristic..."

Manuel: "I wanted to combine these two together but it was difficult because you don't expect the two worlds of Gothic and Sport to meet. So I wanted to create a new DNA which could be very strong, very unique, and identifiable. Overall I think the message of the collection was very clear. For example the graphics of the Sport are very geometric, but the finishings are very technical, very high tech..it is important for me to express innovation.

Me: "Thank you so much and we hope that you will open your stores in South Africa"
