I had the greatest pleasure of watching CIRQUE DU SOLEIL'S "AMALUNA" at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL. BOX SEATING too :)
AMALUNA
Amaluna is a touring show by Cirque du Soleil created and directed by Tony-award winning Diane Paulus. Amaluna is loosely inspired by William Shakespeare's The Tempest and the story takes place on an island governed by goddesses. The storyline: "After directing her daughter's coming of age ceremony, honouring femininity, renewal, rebirth and balance, Queen Prospera causes a storm. A group of young men wash up on the isle, triggering an epic love story between Prospera’s daughter and a brave young suitor. Theirs is a love that will be tested."
The title Amaluna, is the combination of two words "Ama" which means 'mother', and "luna" which means 'moon'. Cirque du Soleil’s 33rd production (Amaluna) is a celebration of love and a tribute to the work and voice of women, with female performers making up the majority of the cast, and all eight members of the band also women.
