HELLO BLOGGETTES!!!
And so my series of posts titled "MY FASHION DIARY" continue. Two weeks ago was LONDON FASHION WEEK and I had the blessed opportunity of attending some of the designer shows. I will be providing you with EXCLUSIVE DEETS on some of the designer shows I received invites to.
STEVEN TAI
A self-professed bookworm, Steven Tai brings a unique blend of intellect and irony, and his designs provide a new refreshing spin to a woman who wishes to stand apart from the norm. Steven Tai was born in Vancouver, Canada, completed his BA in Fashion Design at London's Central St Martins, and thereafter worked at top design houses including Viktor & Rolf, and Stella McCartney before branching off to start his own label in 2012.
His fashion 'resume' is quite impressive too. He was awarded an inaugural Chloe award at the 2012 Hyeres Festival. He then received sponsorship from Mercedes Benz, and as a result was able to present his collection at Berlin Fashion Week in July 2012. In September 2013 he was given the opportunity to present his collection at New York Fashion Week. He also presented at Vogue Italia's "Vogue Talents" exhibition in Milan, Italy. Additionally, he was also a finalist for the prestigious ANDAM (Association Nationale pour le Développement des Arts de la Mode ) award in 2014 and he showcased his Spring/Summer 2015 line in Dubai as part of Vogue's Dubai Fashion Experience.
I am in love with his AW16 collection (and the presentation titled "FREAKY FRIDAY") which was filled with intellectual quirkiness - his collection reminded of a young modern woman who can be regarded as having an 'old soul'. The type of young woman who, instead of dancing on the tables every Friday night, prefers to stay home crocheting 'doilies'. The collection resonated with me at some level as I do have a side of me that prefers staying home at times as opposed to going out. I am also a self-confessed NERD & BOOKWORM - A CHIC NERD!! The fabrics and colours used in this collection were very old school - corduroys in lavender, navy, beige and olive, with a touch of classic floral prints.
Here are my favourite highlights from Steven Tai's AW16 collection:
I then had the pleasure of getting BEHIND THE SCENES ACCESS and witnessed the effort that is placed in GETTING MODELS READY FOR A SHOW AT FASHION WEEK! Here is a SNEAK PEAK into the behind-the-scenes action:
And I even had the blessed opportunity to meet the man himself:
