MY FASHION DIARY (Part 7) - LONDON FASHION WEEK 2016 (Omer Asim & Minki Cheng AW16)

HELLO BLOGGETTES!!
This is my penultimate post on my series of posts titled "MY FASHION DIARY". LONDON FASHION WEEK was a few weeks ago and I had the blessed opportunity to have been invited to a few designer shows and I will be giving you EXCLUSIVE DETAILS on some of the shows I attended.
OMER ASIM
Omer Asim is a Sudanese designer based in London. Asim's educational background is very impressive and interestingly is far removed from fashion. Asim graduated from The Bartlett School of Architecture before completing a postgraduate degree at the London School of Economics and Political Science. After a short stay with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) he started training as a psychoanalyst. During his psychoanalytic training he became fascinated with clothing, fashion and appearance in relation to mind and body.
Asim learned his fashion craft through a number of internships starting with Maurice Sedwell of Savile Row and ending at Vivienne Westwood. Before freelancing in the industry, Asim attended Central Saint Martins specialising in creative pattern cutting, and thereafter launched his label in 2011.
Asim's background in architecture definitely shone through in his AW16 collection with the sculptural style of the clothing. The colour palette of the collection was neutral (black and white) with accents of grey, muted khaki and midnight blue.

I would like to thank Omer Asim for inviting me to view his designs.

MINKI CHENG

Minki Cheng is a London designer who was born and raised in Hong Kong. Cheng graduated from Central Saint Martins in 2012 and received his work experience from house of Alexander Mcqueen and creative studio Tour de Force.

Cheng's AW16 collection invoked a retro element with oversized zip-up jackets in metallic material, appliqued frayed ribboning and frilled knits and dresses.
