HELLO BLOGGETTES!!
I just arrived back to London from an INCREDIBLE RETREAT in SCOTLAND!! I am a Member of the Members Council of my College and we (Council Members) went away on a retreat to a BEAUTIFUL SCOTTISH MANOR HOUSE named THE BURN in SCOTLAND!
THE BURN - SCOTLAND
The Burn is a country estate situated at the foot of GLENESK, one of Scotland's scenic glens, with the nearest village/town of EDZELL. The house itself is a gorgeous GEORGIAN MANSION originally built for General Lord Adam Gordon between 1791 and 1796, and was completely remodelled and modernised by Mr George Herbert Russell in the 1930s. The mansion is now owned by our College - Goodenough College.
It has 20 bedrooms and a capacity to accommodate 50 guests in shared rooms, and an additional 6 bedrooms and 11 beds in the adjacent Courtyard House. The Burn is definitely the best escape from the hustle and bustle of the city of London. It is the perfect academic retreat. The hospitality was 5* star and we were definitely WELL-FED (with three hearty meals a day AND afternoon tea with treats in between). A perfect escape for nature lovers, there are a myriad of activities on offer at The Burn including BIKE RIDING, FISHING, NATURE WALKS, RUNNING, TENNIS COURT, CROQUET LAWN, SWIMMING IN THE RIVER to name just a few. There is even a GAMES ROOM which has a POOL TABLE, DARTS BOARD, and TABLE TENNIS . For the children (or even the young at heart), there are so many BOARD GAMES to choose from including CHARADES, TABOO, JENGA, again to name just a few.
I would definitely highly recommend The Burn - it is the perfect getaway spot.
