ROYAL ALBERT HALL (PRIVATE BOX) - KARL JENKINS & THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

HELLO BLOGGETTES!

You probably know by now my favourite place to be is the ROYAL ALBERT HALL (PRIVATE BOX of course) in SOUTH KENSINGTON. I have had the blessed opportunity to watch John Grant perform (see my previous blog post HERE ), and Cirque De Soleil (see my previous blog post HERE ).  This time, I had the blessed opportunity to watch  a performance by KARL JENKINS & THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA. I absolutely love classical music and the performance was beyond magnificent.

KARL JENKINS

Sir Karl William Jenkins is a Welsh musician and composer known for the famous "Adiemus", "The Armed Man", and his "Requiem". He has the most impressive resume. Sir Jenkins is the most-performed living composer in the world. "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace" alone has been performed over 1500 times in 20 different countries since it was released, and he has won 17 gold and platinum disc awards to date. He studied music at Cardiff University and completed postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He also holds a Doctorate in Music from the University of Wales, and was awarded an honorary doctorate in music from the University of Leicester. Sir Jenkins was also awarded the Chancellor's Medal from the University of Glamorgan, appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) and was made a Knight Bachelor.

THE ROYAL PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA

The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was formed in 1946 by Sir Thomas Beechman and has become Britain's national orchestra. Its home base is London's Cadogan Hall and in 1986 it became the first UK orchestra to launch its own record label. It also started its own online radio station in 2015 - known as The Sound of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - which broadcasts via its website, a Royal Philharmonic Orchestra TV, and an online video channel streaming shorts written, directed and filmed by its musicians.
